Gish’s World

In the west end.. just after Sparklefaerie and I moved in there, unretouched film scan.

One day/ night/ weekend whiel Sparklefaerie and I were walking around downtown Vancouver, we ducked in to Pacific Centre to avoid the rain and walking past the many shops.. came upon a “Claire’s” shop with a groovy alternative chick working there. Sparklefaerie wanted to check out the shop so, I admit- I checked out the clerk.

As we left, I mentioned that I thought she looked like she’d be a great model… and, surprisingly, Sparklefaerie agreed so we went back and.. I introduced myself to her and a great friendship emerged.

We worked together MANY times through the years.. leading up to jaunt overseas to Belgium and meeting her husband.. and starting their little family together. Her first session was in our old pad near Main and 16th.. for a project I am returning to soon- culinary nudes. Her job was to be a platform of display for Balsamic Reduction- a wonderful sauce for mains and salads!

from a later session @ her pad, Main and Broadway.. what a cool space that was. Miss Vancouver muchly!

Warning…
While I have PLETHORIC images to post overall, the volumes coming right now will be, either, unretouched scans (not many) or digital (many.. many) as I am starting to rescan each and every frame we created together .. and working towards a BOOK all about GISH (and she gets % of sale price).

Updates…

PG version for public view 😉

A few galleric updates have taken place without mention, sorry!

Just today, two galleries of this awesome mountainbiker girl got posted.. she modelled with the woolies that were made by hand.. by The General Bean (er, my wife/ partner/ love of my life.. SPARKLEFAERIE 😉 ).. then she did some posing with The Suburbinator.. that many- geared monster of a mountain bike I have rolling around the shop and studio.. she posed with it when it was in pieces, just “roughly” put together. It’s, now, finished and getting prepped for some speed trials. I do fear I need to increase the rim width as 28c tires are a bit.. nerve racking at the speeds I’m planning on going (I hit 80Kmph on glide.. on my old Centurion triathlon bike when I was a spit in history’s eyes.. I plan on hitting more than that!)

I also have added some *temporary* galleries.. well, a few galleries and one temp gallery from Anna. I discovered her walking along Granville st. nearing W. Georgia.. passing London Drugs (if it’s still there.. apparently the LD in the “W” building has, since I left the wonderful city, gone.. Sparklefaerie and I would walk, with Sabina in her stroller, to the “W” bldg and grab some necessities since we live in Strathcona and.. Bean would sleep in the stroller nicely.. even if it was raining).

Anyhow..
She was under an umbrella and all dishevelled.. wonderful blonde hair, slim trim frame.. and I had to pull over my courier ride and stop her to ask if she’d ever thought about modelling.. pulled out my “portfolio” that consisted of a handful of various prints from previous shoots.. and the deal was set.

The gallery that was uploaded of Anna, as a temp exhibit, was shot in my west end space~ a studio apartment on Harwood. we had a huge pine tree outside the front windows so, we could open them wide, she could enjoy the spring sun, and none walking past would be the wiser. None of that session was digital, so the “temporary” aspect of the exhibition is that the scans haven’t been “retouched” .. or cleaned of scan artifacting. So, enjoy now and the larger versions, after cleaning, will be posted shortly.

Bubblebath Anna, in Infrared

bellocqa gallery

As said in the intro, Andre Roussel/ Bellocqa was an interesting figure. I don’t know much about the person.. and there is little online. When I’m back in the area, I am hoping to delve a bit deeper in to his background and life.. hoping to shed more light on the person behind the images. But, here’s a sampling of his work.

Bellocqa intro

Andre Roussel was an interesting creative based out of~ both~ Hull and Montreal, PQ. I remember living in Hull for a winter.. hadd just returned to Carleton on a part- time basis.. two english courses, concurrently. A first year and a second year.. the second year prof. said that if we didn’t happen to have prerequisites for the class, we would fail. I begged to differ and we battled head to head for the whole year. I think I passed. I know I passed my first year class with Prof. Cooper. With flying colours.

Anyhow.. Andre passed away due to COVID19. Sad but true. He was within the demographic of fear being a bit more advanced in his years. His work is diverse and he’s worked with some great models. His style is unique.. quirky but unique. Something that a lot of shooters are striving for.. striving but flailing.

I was saddened to learn of his passing a few years ago and I hope this little entry brings more attention to him and his work/ life.

Intro to John Running

I was introduced to John years ago.. when he was still shooting. He *hails* from the Flagstaff area.. an area that has a warm spot in my heart not only because it’s close to Phoenix and Sedona.. but it’s also close to Needles and that’s home to Snoopy’s brother Spike from the Peanuts comics I grew up with.

Sad to note that John has since shuffled off his mortal coil. He passed on in about 2013 so, if you visit his Deviant Art page here.. it hasn’t been updated. Unlike The Book of Face, Deviantart doesn’t have the ability to assign a page manager once you expire.

Germanically and Specials

When ever I say “specials” I gotta admit, I almost always think of The Specials AKA (The Specials basically but with a very convolluted or polluted nomenclatural history, if you ask me 😉 ).

But, in this case- the sessions shared are pretty.. special. Very “early career” sessions with a few Kelowna girls while I was running my own newspaper and.. kinda felt like I was the man about town as I couldn’t go anywhere without meeting someone that knew me. Didn’t hurt that I was Box Boy for a brewpub in Penticton… anyhow..

The Germanically oriented lass.. and her story.
Not much to share about her, really.. she was travelling and needed some extra cash. So, she agreed to come in and pose~ sans pubic hair, for sure~ in the old S. Granville space.. I’ve posted a couple of her galleries and, as I clean more of her images.. more will go up. So, pretty soon- more. I do, even, have some film scans from the session.

Personally, I really dig the shots with the Ty Beanie Baby.. Sparklefaerie bought that for me, as a rendition of me, so many years ago. It survived all our moves, intact, until our move to Calgary. During that move, the doll lost it’s back pack. And in our last move, to Terrace, it lost the sunglasses. Not even sure if the clothes remain. We did “embellish” it slightly by adding some yellow thread on it’s chin to be more like what I represent 😉

The Prints of (s)TEEL

Happy New(d) (f)Ears

There was a lot of confusion taking place over the last couple years.. but I had cleaned up many many prints from working with TEEL.  You can see her also here in her wonderful nude natural state.. and there will be MORE coming as I rescan and clean the rest of the film we produced over the years.

So, I’m starting off this year with uploading two galleries here.. and working on Gish’s galleries.. of which there are MANY.. I also discovered that Anna has not been exhibited in her entirety as I thought she had been.. so there’s a TON of material yet to come. Stay tooned, stay cool.. and stay up to date as new work is created.. and the boat is finished SOON!!!

Unannouced Update

this one won’t get a link.. but the album has almost 10 different groupings that’ll be posted over the next little bit.  I’ve added this awesome feature image from Trish’s Wreck beach session as a keygrab sorta attention seeking visual aid.. but you’ll be scouring the multiple galleries for the new post.. two albums so far.

I don’t have a lot to say right now.. it’s snowing pretty heavily up here in Terrace and the temp is about to drop massively- only for a few days but still.. it’s gonna hit -25C for the next few days. yay.

I may have mentioned the plan to move the boat to Kelowna.. still working on it. Just sent $$ to a friend to pick up a cool Kona Cindercone VINTAGE steel bike frame.. it’s a 15″ frame which is .. MY SIZE.. so, now I have to decide- strip it completely and repaint or rip the decals and order new ones only.. or just clean it and rebuild it to be ridden as a beater.. but it’s pedigree is so NOT beater status!

Pixie.. uncleaned scan of soft- focus image captured on Wreck Beach, Vancouver.

As an aside, I was pretty heavily talking to Kona (or, “The Bicycle Group” as they are) about sponsorship for the Amazon North to Rip ride (that failed because the two cyclists.. *ahem* that rode off with me couldn’t hack the reality of cycling day in and day out).. almost got four Kona Hei Hei’s (titanium mountain bikes).. and I woulda settled for Cindercones but.. well, we had to leave before they could get back to us on the deal.

Anyhow.. I still have TONS of scans to work on.. like the one at left.. retouching to clean up scan artifacts, colours, and what not.. and as I do that- I am also laying out a couple coffee table books for sale.

so, Sign Up and enjoy the MORE THAN 25,000 fine art nude images I’ve posted already.. and watch as that number keeps growing and growing and growing!

Brianna… returns

I’ve been super busy working on the back end of a cool Streamed Event that’ll be taking place on March 20th/ 21st .. and putting some finishing touches on a sculpture I started months ago.. months before the move from YYC to Terrace.. so, it’s been sitting and staring at me for almost a year and a half.

Feels good to have soapstone dust covering me once again.

When the piece is finished, I’ve got a cool photo idea for it. I’ll shoot this one (still working on the title but something along the lines of Sunrise caught between fingers.. ) and Ecce Homo for real cool effect and display/ sale. I’m also gonna be doing digital documentation so that I can reproduce the pieces with 3D printers and/ or Brass Foundries. I have a plan… I’m actually kinda excited about it.. The Boat Journey is part one..

And yeah.. Brianna is back in the galleries. Not sure why she was pulled but she’s back. Such a luscious blonde.. young, lithe.. I’m hoping to reconnect with her in Kelowna, once I relocate TheBoat to the Okanagan since she’s an accountant.. not for more photo sessions but for book keeping/ accountancy stuff 😉
